Does Comarch ERP XL Have Finite Capacity Scheduling? Produkcja and Comarch APS Explained

Comarch ERP XL schedules production orders in its Produkcja module. It places operations on resource calendars, checks resource occupancy, reports conflicts and shows the plan on a Gantt chart. Capacity per work center is a number the user defines, and changeovers are a percentage allowance. For detailed sequencing, Comarch sells Comarch APS as a separate application. Plants that need every machine, person, tool and material scheduled finitely, with changeovers between products, run SkyPlanner APS beside Comarch ERP XL.

This article covers Comarch ERP XL with the current Comarch help and Comarch APS 2026.3. Comarch ERP Optima and Comarch ERP Enterprise are different products with their own production functions.

How Comarch ERP XL plans production, step by step

1. Work centers and resources

Capacity starts with gniazda robocze (work centers) and zasoby (resources): machines, tools and employees. Each resource has Kalendarze i Okresy (calendars and periods) and Przestoje i Awarie (planned and unplanned downtime with reason and status). An employee’s calendar can come from the employee card.

The work center card holds two numbers. Zdolność produkcyjna w okresie is the capacity per period, for example 80 hours for two resources at 40 hours each. Dopuszczalne obciążenie w okresie is the allowed load as a percentage. Comarch explains why capacity is typed in: “Because capacity cannot always be stated so unambiguously, this field is left for the user to define.” (Comarch help, translated)

2. Technologies

A technologia (TP) is the routing and the bill of materials in one. It lists the operations (czynności), the work centers that can run them, the resources each needs, and the raw materials, semi-finished goods and products per operation.

3. Production orders

A zlecenie produkcyjne (ZP) has tabs for processes, materials and resources. The ZP definition sets the available planning methods. Planning runs forward from a given date or backward to a given date, and generates operation dates from resource calendars. Raw material reservations are made with substitutes when an item is missing. Comarch lists these features on its Produkcja page.

4. Automatic and manual scheduling

Harmonogramowanie automatyczne places operations by the chosen method and reports conflicts. Comarch names conflict types such as resources busy in other operations and resources busy in other tasks. Replanning comes in detailed, simplified, coarse and all-resources modes. A higher-priority order can push lower-priority orders.

Harmonogramowanie ręczne is drag and drop on the Gantt chart, by resource or by work center. Linked operations recalculate when one moves.

5. Coarse planning and the load plan

Planowanie zgrubne (coarse planning) works in periods with three variants: overload the current period, overload the next period, or no overload. In the first, operations land in the current period even when “the resource availability limit is exceeded”. (Comarch help) The Plan obciążenia gniazd roboczych (PLZ) shows load per work center against the capacity and allowed load you set.

6. Comarch APS, the separate scheduler

Comarch describes it plainly: “Comarch APS is a standalone application with its own interface and its own database (PSQL). It is used to schedule production based on data supplied by the ERP system.” (Comarch APS help, translated)

  • It imports production orders with customer, due date and priority, technologies, resources (machines, tools, workers, departments) and materials from ERP XL (Comarch).
  • The planner presses Aktualizuj dane z ERP to update data, builds schedule variants and sends the chosen one back with Wyślij do ERP. The schedule is then written onto the production orders pulled earlier.
  • It runs in two modes: planning only in Comarch APS, or planning in Comarch APS and ERP XL. In APS-only mode, replanning in ERP XL is not possible.
  • Setup time (TPZ) is “a fixed value taken from the technology”.
  • It is installed on your server with PostgreSQL, an integrator service next to the ERP XL database and a license key on Comarch ERP Menadżer Kluczy (installation). The 2026.3 integrator works with ERP XL 2026.0, 2025.1 and 2025.0.

What stays with the planner

  • Capacity is an estimate. Work center capacity per period is typed in by the user, not derived from a sequenced machine timeline.
  • Changeovers are a capacity percentage. The allowed load lets you reserve “some % of time for downtime, changeovers etc.” (Comarch help). A percentage does not know which product ran before.
  • Changeover objects are about work centers. The przezbrojenie setting defines “the changeover time of the resource’s work center and the cost of that change” (Comarch help), for a resource moving between work centers.
  • Unlimited resources skip the check. A resource flagged with unlimited capacity is picked “without checking its occupancy by other tasks” (same source).
  • Conflicts are reported, then resolved. The planner chooses a replanning mode or drags operations on the Gantt chart.
  • Released orders stay put by default. Operations released to production are rescheduled only when the “Przesuń na zwolnionych” parameter is ticked.
  • Comarch APS syncs on the planner’s click. Data comes in with Aktualizuj dane z ERP and goes out with Wyślij do ERP. Its setup time is one fixed value per operation.

When Comarch ERP XL’s native planning is enough

The Produkcja module does the job when:

  • Capacity per work center and period is accurate enough for your delivery promises.
  • Changeovers are short, or do not depend on the product that ran before.
  • One planner owns the plan and resolves conflicts on the Gantt chart.
  • Operators, shared tools and material arrival rarely decide the order of work.
  • The plan changes once a week, not several times a day.

If that fits, keep resource calendars and downtimes current and set the allowed load per work center from real data.

When you need a finite capacity scheduler

You have outgrown the native tools when several of these are true:

  • Delivery dates slip although the load plan looks fine by period.
  • The planner resolves conflicts by hand after every rush order or breakdown.
  • Changeover time depends on which product, color or material ran before.
  • Operators, shifts and absences limit output as much as machines do.
  • Molds, dies or fixtures move between machines.
  • Late material decides which production order can start.

What to look for

  • Every resource finite at once: machines, people and tools on a real timeline, not period totals.
  • Operation-level sequencing by priorities and due dates.
  • A setting time matrix with sequence-dependent, asymmetric changeover times.
  • Tools as finite shared resources and multi-operator jobs.
  • Material-aware scheduling that checks stock and incoming purchase orders.
  • Automatic rescheduling when production progress or orders change.
  • A clean ERP XL data path. Ask every vendor how it reads production orders and technologies, how dates reach the ZP operations, and who supports it after go-live.

For the general method, see finite capacity scheduling.

Where SkyPlanner fits

SkyPlanner APS closes each gap listed above. Every workstation, person and tool is finite. The Arcturus AI engine builds an operation-level schedule in seconds, sequenced by job priority, completion date, customer priority, Fast Track and Dynamic Priorities.

Its setting time matrix holds the changeover time between each pair of products in both directions, and the engine picks the order with the least setup. Tools are finite shared resources, several people can work the same job at once, and work moves to alternative machines or personnel when the primary one is unavailable.

Material-driven scheduling simulates future inventory from stock and incoming purchase orders, so a job is planned when its material is there. Autopilot reschedules automatically when production changes, and Running Time Lock freezes the next hours of work so the floor is not disrupted. Operators log work on phone or tablet with Mobile Confirmations, Production Timer and Quick Log Mode.

Choose SkyPlanner over Comarch APS when:

  • You need a live schedule in weeks. Comarch APS is installed on your server with its own database, integrator and license key. SkyPlanner is cloud software you test on your own production orders in the trial and run live within weeks after onboarding starts.
  • The plan must keep itself current. Comarch APS refreshes and sends schedules when the planner clicks. Autopilot replans automatically on every meaningful change, and webhooks push the new dates out.
  • Changeovers decide your output. Comarch APS uses one fixed setup time per operation. The setting time matrix plans the switch between each pair of products.
  • Crews, tools and material decide the sequence. Finite tools, multi-operator jobs, alternative workstations and purchase-order arrivals sit in one schedule.

Start with an Excel or CSV export of open ERP XL production orders in the 30-day free trial (up to 20 workstations, no credit card). After that, pricing is from 199 € per month with 5 workstations included, billed monthly. The integration is quoted up front for your process and needs, together with your plan.

SkyPlanner integrates with Comarch ERP XL in both directions: it reads production data through the ERP XL Web REST API or a database read connection, and writes operation dates and realizations back through the XL API. The SkyPlanner team configures it during onboarding, and your partner or developers can work on the documented REST API. See the SkyPlanner for Comarch ERP XL page, the Comarch ERP XL integration guide or all ERP integrations.

FAQ

Does Comarch ERP XL have a scheduling tool?

Yes. The Produkcja module has automatic and manual scheduling of production orders, conflict reports, a work center load plan and a Gantt chart. Detailed sequencing in Comarch’s own line comes from Comarch APS, a separate application.

Is Comarch APS part of Comarch ERP XL?

No. Comarch APS is a standalone application with its own interface and PostgreSQL database. It needs its own license key and an integrator service that connects it to ERP XL.

Does Comarch ERP XL handle sequence-dependent setup times?

ERP XL handles changeovers in two places. It reserves a percentage of capacity for changeovers, and its przezbrojenie setting covers a resource moving between work centers. Comarch APS uses one fixed setup time per operation. SkyPlanner’s setting time matrix stores changeover times between product pairs in both directions and sequences jobs to minimize them.

Should we use Comarch APS or SkyPlanner?

SkyPlanner, when you want a cloud scheduler that keeps itself current and plans changeovers, crews, tools and material together. Comarch APS fits when you want to stay inside Comarch’s product line and run it on your own server. You can test SkyPlanner on your own production orders before deciding.

Can I test SkyPlanner before integrating it with Comarch ERP XL?

Yes. Import open production orders, technologies and work centers from ERP XL as Excel or CSV during the 30-day trial and compare the schedule with your current plan. See pricing, start the trial or talk to sales.
