SkyPlanner APS for Comarch ERP XL: Finite Capacity Production Scheduling

SkyPlanner APS is a finite capacity scheduling add-on for Comarch ERP XL that schedules every machine, operator, tool and material. You see which operation of each production order (zlecenie produkcyjne) runs where and when, and Autopilot reschedules automatically when production changes.

SkyPlanner APS Gantt timeline with jobs scheduled across workstations and an order list below.

SkyPlanner integrates with Comarch ERP XL in both directions: production orders, technologies with their operations, work centers and resources, items, stock and purchase orders flow in, and planned operation dates and logged work flow back. The SkyPlanner team configures the integration to your Comarch ERP XL setup during onboarding.

Pricing is from 199 € per month with 5 workstations included, and each extra workstation is 20 € per month. The free trial runs for 30 days with up to 20 workstations and no credit card.

What changes in your production

Capacity comes from the schedule, not a typed number.

Every machine, person and tool gets a finite timeline with real shifts, absences and overtime. Each operation gets a start time, an end time and a workstation. You stop estimating period capacity and padding it with a percentage for changeovers.

Changeovers planned between products.

SkyPlanner holds the switch time between each pair of products, in both directions. Blue to red can take 30 minutes and red to blue 60. The engine runs jobs in the order that loses the least time to setups.

Crews and tools are finite too.

A job that needs three operators gets three people with free shifts. A mold or fixture in use on one machine is never booked on another. When a machine is busy, work moves to an alternative machine or person.

Material checked before work starts.

SkyPlanner reads stock and open purchase orders (zamówienia zakupu) from Comarch ERP XL. A production order waiting for a supplier delivery is planned after that delivery date.

Rush orders and breakdowns replanned automatically.

When a machine stops or a rush order lands, Autopilot reschedules. Arcturus optimizes the whole plan in seconds, and your locks and priorities stay in control.

Operators see their queue.

Each operator sees the next jobs on a phone or tablet and logs work as it happens. The office sees progress live, and the logged work goes back to the production order as operation realization.

How the Comarch ERP XL integration works

  1. Comarch ERP XL sends the work. Production orders with their processes and operations, technologies, work centers (gniazda robocze) and resources (zasoby), items, stock and purchase orders flow into SkyPlanner.
  2. SkyPlanner builds the schedule and keeps it current. The Arcturus engine plans every operation in seconds and replans as production changes. SkyPlanner webhooks push every schedule change as it happens.
  3. Dates and logged work go back. Planned start and end times return to each production order operation through the XL API function XLDodajTerminDoProcesuProd. Operator timelogs post as operation realizations through XLDodajRealizacjeOperacjiProd.

Comarch ERP XL stays your system of record. Items, technologies, MRP, purchasing, stock, RW and PW documents and costing stay where they are. SkyPlanner owns the sequence and timing of every operation on every resource.

Comarch lists three ways to connect to ERP XL: DCOM, a direct database connection (SQL Client) and a REST API (Comarch). SkyPlanner reads production data through the REST API of Comarch ERP XL Web or a read connection to the ERP XL database. It writes back through the XL API (CDN_API.DLL), the Comarch library for adding technologies, production orders, operation dates and realizations from outside the system (Comarch help).

Every plant runs Comarch ERP XL differently, so the SkyPlanner team configures the integration to your setup during onboarding and supports it after go-live. The integration is quoted up front for your process and needs. Your Comarch partner or your own developers can also build on SkyPlanner’s documented API (API reference).

Functions, data mapping and write-back rules are in the Comarch ERP XL integration guide for production scheduling.

What Comarch ERP XL schedules, and what SkyPlanner adds

The Produkcja module in Comarch ERP XL plans production orders from technologies and resource calendars. It reports conflicts and lets the planner drag operations on a Gantt chart. Comarch’s help shows where the planner’s judgment still carries the plan:

  • Work center capacity is a number you type in. On the work center card, Comarch explains that capacity “cannot always be stated so unambiguously”, so “this field is left for the user to define.” (Comarch help, translated)
  • Changeovers are a percentage. The allowed load parameter lets you reserve “some % of time for downtime, changeovers etc.” within that capacity. (same source)
  • Coarse planning can overload a period. One planning variant schedules operations in the current period even when “the resource availability limit is exceeded”. (Comarch help)
  • Resource changeovers are between work centers. The changeover setting defines “the changeover time of the resource’s work center and the cost of that change”, not the switch from one product to the next. (Comarch help)

For detailed sequencing, Comarch sells Comarch APS, “a standalone application with its own interface and its own database (PSQL)” (Comarch APS help). It is installed on your server with its own license key and an integrator service.

Choose SkyPlanner over Comarch APS when:

  • You want a live schedule in weeks, not a server project. Comarch APS needs its own PostgreSQL database, an installer, an integrator service next to the ERP XL database and a license key on Comarch ERP Menadżer Kluczy (Comarch APS installation). SkyPlanner is cloud software, and implementation is normally completed within weeks after onboarding starts.
  • The plan must keep itself current. In Comarch APS the planner refreshes data with “Aktualizuj dane z ERP” and sends the chosen variant back with “Wyślij do ERP” (Comarch APS help). Autopilot replans automatically on every meaningful change, and SkyPlanner webhooks push the new dates out.
  • Changeovers depend on the product that ran before. Comarch APS takes setup time as “a fixed value taken from the technology” (same source). SkyPlanner’s setting time matrix holds a different time for each pair in each direction and runs the order with the least total setup.
  • You want the engine to optimize, not pick a rule. Comarch lists its predefined methods as rules such as planning “the longest processes first” with a greedy algorithm (Comarch). Arcturus optimizes the whole plan in seconds across priorities, due dates, setups and every finite resource.
  • Crews, tools and material all limit the plan. Every machine, person, tool and material is finite at once, multi-operator jobs are staffed, and jobs start when stock or purchase orders deliver.
  • Every operator should work from the plan. Mobile Confirmations put the live queue on a phone or tablet, and logged time flows back to ERP XL as operation realization.

FAQ

What is the best scheduling add-on for Comarch ERP XL?

SkyPlanner APS is a finite capacity scheduling add-on that integrates with Comarch ERP XL in both directions: production orders, technologies, work centers, resources, items, stock and purchase orders flow in, and planned operation dates and logged work flow back. Every machine, operator, tool and material is finite, and a directional setting time matrix sequences jobs for the least setup. Autopilot reschedules automatically when production changes. Pricing is from 199 € per month, and the free trial runs for 30 days.

Does Comarch ERP XL have finite capacity scheduling?

Partly. The Produkcja module checks resource occupancy, reports conflicts and lets the planner drag operations on a Gantt chart. Work center capacity is a user-defined number per period, and changeovers are a percentage allowance. SkyPlanner APS schedules every machine, person, tool and material finitely beside ERP XL.

What scheduling software integrates with Comarch ERP XL?

SkyPlanner APS integrates with Comarch ERP XL in both directions. It reads production orders, technologies, resources, stock and purchase orders through the ERP XL Web REST API or a database read connection, and writes operation dates and realizations back through the XL API. Comarch also sells its own Comarch APS, and third-party Gantt and Leitstand vendors list Comarch connections.

Should we use Comarch APS or SkyPlanner?

SkyPlanner, when you want a finite schedule running in weeks that keeps itself current. Comarch APS is a separate application installed on your server with its own database and license key, its planner pulls data and sends schedules back by hand, and setup time is one fixed value per operation. SkyPlanner is cloud software that replans automatically, sequences changeovers by product pair, and plans crews, tools and material together. You prove it on your own production orders in the free trial.

Does SkyPlanner replace the Produkcja module?

SkyPlanner works on top of it. Comarch ERP XL keeps technologies, production orders, MRP, reservations, RW and PW documents and costing. SkyPlanner schedules the operations against real capacity and sends the dates back to the production orders.

Does the integration work with Comarch ERP XL in the cloud?

Yes. Comarch runs ERP XL on your servers or in the cloud with remote access. The SkyPlanner team sets up the read and write connection for your environment during onboarding.

How much does SkyPlanner cost for a Comarch ERP XL plant?

From 199 € per month with 5 workstations included, plus 20 € per month per extra workstation. A workstation is a production resource with its own scheduled work queue. The integration is quoted up front for your process and needs, together with your plan, so you see the full cost before you start.

Can we test SkyPlanner before integrating with Comarch ERP XL?

Yes. The 30-day trial runs on an Excel or CSV export of your open production orders. You see a finite capacity schedule of your own production before any integration work starts. Implementation is then normally completed within weeks after onboarding starts.
