Fredman Operations Oy manufactures food-safe kitchen and packaging solutions in Rauma — among other things fat-resistant and packaging papers for food industry companies. Rising order volumes called for clear capacity visibility: both to manage production and to make reliable delivery commitments to a growing customer base.

Before SkyPlanner: manual planning as a growth bottleneck

Work cards moved manually from the Visma L7 ERP to LTR production management software. The planner prioritised jobs without precise visibility into machine release times or shift-by-shift capacity. Urgent rescheduling could take an hour or more, sudden changes regularly led to overtime, and material availability did not always align with the work queue. Without a clear shift-by-shift picture — including leave and holidays — realistic promises to new customers were impossible to calculate.

All information in one view

SkyPlanner was evaluated alongside other systems and stood out for visual clarity: the Gantt timeline shows all machines, free and booked capacity, and job progress in a single view. Implementation combined the L7 and LTR integrations, and production reached full operational use within approximately six months of data migration.

AI drives production

The Gantt timeline is the centre of daily planning. The AI-powered capacity load view and shift scheduling module bring shift-by-shift capacity directly into scheduling, a KPI dashboard tracks production metrics in real time, and need dates flow back to L7 automatically for procurement. Each job’s planned start and end is visible to everyone on the floor — production employees monitor the schedule themselves and manage their own pace.
