SkyPlanner APS for Visma L7: Finite Capacity Production Scheduling

SkyPlanner APS is a finite capacity scheduling add-on for Visma L7, the ERP that large and mid-sized Finnish industrial, contracting and energy companies run. Every machine, operator, tool and material gets a finite schedule at real clock times, and Autopilot reschedules automatically when production changes.

SkyPlanner APS Gantt timeline with jobs scheduled across workstations and an order list below.

SkyPlanner integrates with Visma L7 in both directions over the Visma L7 REST API. Work numbers (työnumero), work stages (työnvaihe), resources, product structures, materials, stock balances and purchase rows flow in. Scheduled start dates, resources, priorities, persons and day-by-day hours go back to each work card. The SkyPlanner team configures the integration to your L7 setup during onboarding.

Pricing is from 199 € per month with 5 workstations included, and each extra workstation is 20 € per month. The free trial runs for 30 days with up to 20 workstations and no credit card.

What changes in your production

Every stage at a real clock time.

L7 plans each work stage as hours on days. SkyPlanner places each stage on a free workstation at a clock time, with shifts, holidays, absences and overtime. Two stages never share one machine at the same hour.

Each machine scheduled on its own.

In an L7 resource, the machine count divides the work. SkyPlanner gives every machine its own queue and moves a stage to an alternative workstation when the first choice is busy. The chosen resource goes back to the L7 work card.

People and tools are finite too.

A fixture in use on one machine is never booked on another, and a job that needs three operators gets three people with free shifts.

Fewer setups.

SkyPlanner holds the changeover time between products in its setting time matrix, in both directions. Switching from blue to red can take 30 minutes and red to blue 60. Arcturus runs similar jobs back to back and picks the order with the least setup, balanced against due dates.

Jobs start when material is there.

SkyPlanner projects stock forward from L7 stock balances and purchase rows. A stage waiting for a vendor delivery is planned for when the material arrives, and if the delivery slips, the job moves with it.

A plan that survives your ERP change.

Visma has ended new feature development for L7. Your workstations, process steps, setting time matrix and rules live in SkyPlanner, so when you move to a new ERP, only the connection changes.

How the Visma L7 integration works

  1. L7 sends the work. SkyPlanner reads work stages with GET /manufphases/, resources with GET /manufresources/, parts and materials with GET /manufcomponents/ and GET /manufmaterials/, plus products, stock balances, sales rows and purchase rows. After the first load, these reads use modifiedAfter, so only records changed since the last run come in.
  2. SkyPlanner builds the schedule and keeps it current. The Arcturus engine optimizes the whole plan in seconds against every machine, person, tool and material, and Autopilot replans when production changes.
  3. The schedule goes back to L7. PUT /manufphases/ writes each work card’s resource, start date, priority, person and day-by-day hours to the L7 work stage. POST /resourceupdates/ keeps the resource calendar capacity in step. L7 work queues then show the jobs in SkyPlanner’s order.
  4. Progress comes back in. Production events posted in L7 work queues are read with GET /manufevents/, and operators can also confirm work in SkyPlanner Mobile Confirmations.

SkyPlanner runs in the cloud and connects to the L7 REST API on your Visma LTR host, so nothing is installed in L7. Visma lists Skycode with SkyPlanner on its L7 integrations page. The SkyPlanner team configures the integration for your L7 setup and supports it after go-live.

The integration is quoted up front for your process and needs, together with your plan. Your Visma partner or your own developers can also build on SkyPlanner’s documented API (API reference). Endpoints, field mapping and ownership rules are in the Visma L7 integration guide for production scheduling.

What Visma L7 schedules, and what SkyPlanner adds

L7 production control (Tuotannonohjaus) plans with requirement calculation (Tarvelaskenta), fine planning (Hienosuunnittelu) and the production planning grid. Fine planning places stages on a resource’s days and shows the load per day. Visma’s own documentation sets the limits:

  • Machine count divides the work. For a resource with several machines, the capacity need is divided by the number of machines (source). SkyPlanner schedules each machine as its own workstation.
  • Overload is flagged, not solved. When load exceeds capacity, L7 turns the load figures red (source). Fixed-stage scheduling allows overload and covers only single-level structures (2024 training material). SkyPlanner never books a machine, person or tool twice.
  • The planner orders the day. The day’s work is sorted with a manual action, and a priority set by an external system is left as it is (source). SkyPlanner sets that priority for you, and L7 keeps it.
  • Calendar gaps need care. Missing factory calendar days can push stages into the past (source). SkyPlanner works from shift calendars with holidays and absences.
  • No changeover logic. L7’s fine planning has no setup matrix. SkyPlanner’s setting time matrix orders jobs for the least setup.

Choose SkyPlanner over L7 Hienosuunnittelu when:

  • You need real clock times. L7 stores a stage as hours on days. SkyPlanner gives every stage a start and end time on a real shift.
  • Several machines share one resource. L7 divides the work by the machine count (source). SkyPlanner schedules each machine and picks the free one.
  • Red load figures cost you hours every week. L7 flags overload (source). SkyPlanner builds a plan with no overload in the first place.
  • Your products have multi-level structures. L7’s fixed-stage scheduling covers single-level structures only (source). SkyPlanner schedules subproducts and assemblies in one plan.
  • Changeovers decide your output. SkyPlanner’s setting time matrix sequences jobs for the least setup.
  • Your ERP is about to change. Visma has stopped new L7 development, and the product’s use ends at the end of 2028 (Visma notice). Planning set up in SkyPlanner stays in place through the move.

How to get started

FAQ

What is the best scheduling add-on for Visma L7?

SkyPlanner APS is a finite capacity scheduling add-on that integrates with Visma L7 in both directions. Work stages, resources, product structures, materials, stock balances and purchase rows flow in, and each work card’s resource, start date, priority, person and day hours go back. Every machine, operator, tool and material is finite, and a directional setting time matrix sequences jobs for the least setup. Pricing is from 199 € per month, and the free trial runs for 30 days.

What scheduling software integrates with Visma L7?

SkyPlanner APS integrates with Visma L7 over the Visma L7 REST API, and Visma lists Skycode with SkyPlanner on its L7 integrations page. APS suites such as Delfoi Planner also connect to L7. SkyPlanner runs in the browser, writes the schedule back to L7 work cards and puts each operator’s queue on a phone or tablet.

Should we use Visma L7 Hienosuunnittelu or SkyPlanner?

Use L7 fine planning if each resource is one machine, your structures are single-level and a planner has time to sort each day. Use SkyPlanner when you need clock times, several machines per resource, multi-level structures, least-setup sequencing or automatic replanning. SkyPlanner also keeps your planning in place when you replace L7.

What happens to SkyPlanner when we move off Visma L7?

Your workstations, process steps, setting time matrix, shifts and rules stay in SkyPlanner. The integration is reconnected to the new ERP, for example Business Central, Visma Net, Lemonsoft, Monitor ERP or Odoo. Production keeps the same plan through the switch.

Is Visma L7 the same as Visma Net or Visma Nova?

No. Visma L7 is Visma’s ERP for contracting, energy and industrial companies, typically large and mid-sized ones. Visma Net is Visma’s cloud ERP for medium and large companies, and Visma Nova serves small companies. Each has its own data model and its own SkyPlanner page.

Do we need to install anything in Visma L7?

No. SkyPlanner runs in the cloud and calls the L7 REST API on your Visma LTR host. Your LTR administrator creates the API user and tokens, and you license the REST endpoints the integration uses.

How much does SkyPlanner cost for a Visma L7 company?

From 199 € per month with 5 workstations included, plus 20 € per month per extra workstation. A workstation is a production resource with its own scheduled work queue. The integration is quoted up front for your process and needs, together with your plan, so you see the full cost before you start.

How long does implementation take?

Implementation is normally completed within weeks after onboarding starts. The team maps your resources and work stages, connects work numbers and materials, and writes the schedule back to L7. Everything is tested against your current plan before go-live.
