DELMIAWorks Integration Guide for Production Scheduling with SkyPlanner APS

This DELMIAWorks integration guide shows partners and IT teams how to connect DELMIAWorks, the former IQMS, to SkyPlanner APS. SkyPlanner integrates with DELMIAWorks in both directions, using the DELMIAWorks WebAPI:

  • Work orders, Bills of Manufacturing with part operations, work centers, tools and molds, inventory items, stock and purchase orders flow in.
  • Planned start and end dates and the assigned work center go back to the work orders.
  • Good parts can post as production records, and setup and run time as Time & Attendance task labor.
  • SkyPlanner webhooks push schedule changes as they happen.

The SkyPlanner team configures the integration to your DELMIAWorks setup during onboarding over the REST API and supports it after go-live. This guide is for partners and developers who want to take part, or to build on SkyPlanner’s documented REST API (API reference) themselves.

DELMIAWorks’ integration interfaces

DELMIAWorks “WebAPI includes both the API SDK for GRAPHQL APIs and WebAPI SDK for REST APIs” (WebAPI datasheet). The REST side is organized in modules and controllers. The ones a scheduling integration uses:

  • Manufacturing WorkOrders: WorkOrder, WorkOrders, ScheduledWorkOrders, UnscheduledWorkOrders, CreateWorkOrder, UpdateWorkOrder, UpdateWorkOrderEx, WorkOrderReleases, InventoryItemsForWorkOrder, SalesOrdersForWorkOrder.
  • Manufacturing Schedule: RunAutoLoad, RemoveFromSchedule, NextSetup, GetSetupTemplateChecklists.
  • Manufacturing WorkCenters: WorkCenter, WorkCenters, WorkCenterDetails, RunningWorkOrder, PMEquipment.
  • Manufacturing BOM: BillOfMaterials, BomLabor, PartOperations, StandardOperations, BOMComponents.
  • Manufacturing Inventory: InventoryItems, AddProductionRecords, InventoryProductionReportsByWorkOrder.
  • Manufacturing Realtime: GetWorkCenterSchedule, ActualCavity, GetSetupTime, RealTimeData.
  • Manufacturing Downtime: AddDownTime, CloseDownTime.
  • PO Receiving: POs, POLineItems, POReleaseItems, POReceipts.
  • Time & Attendance: TimeClock (LogInOut, TaskClockLogin), Tasks (ClockInTATask, ClockOutTATask, UpdateGoodParts), EmployeeCalendar.

The GraphQL SDK suits bulk reads, such as the initial load of items and BOMs. The REST controllers carry every write.

Authentication and licensing

On the DELMIAWorks side, create a dedicated integration user and confirm that the WebAPI is licensed and installed for your environment. The Realtime module exposes an AuthToken controller, and the WebAPI session is opened with the integration user’s credentials. Your DELMIAWorks partner confirms the exact setup for your release.

On the SkyPlanner side, every call carries an API token in the Authorization-Token header. You create the token in SkyPlanner under Settings > API. An API token is enough to start building.

Events and polling

SkyPlanner sends webhooks on every schedule change, so write-back to DELMIAWorks happens as the plan moves.

For changes in DELMIAWorks, poll the WebAPI. Read ScheduledWorkOrders and UnscheduledWorkOrders every few minutes, and read purchase orders and inventory items on a slower cycle. IQAlert, the alert and action engine inside DELMIAWorks, can trigger actions on events in a partner project.

Integration patterns

1. Initial master data load. Read inventory items, BOMs, part operations, work centers and molds. Map work centers deliberately: each press is one workstation, and presses that share a mold size become a workstation group with alternatives.

2. Work order sync. Read open work orders with their operations and material, plus open purchase orders. SkyPlanner treats ordered resin and inserts as available on the PO delivery date and updates stock when the PO is marked Delivered.

3. Schedule write-back. When the engine places or moves a work order, a SkyPlanner webhook triggers a work order update on the Manufacturing WorkOrders controller. It carries the planned start and end dates and the work center that SkyPlanner chose. The exact fields, and how the Finite Schedule board follows them, are fixed during onboarding scoping.

4. Shop-floor confirmations. Operators log work with SkyPlanner Mobile Confirmations or the Production Timer, and the timelogs keep the schedule current. You choose whether actuals post back. If yes, good parts go to AddProductionRecords and labor to the Time & Attendance task calls. If no, RealTime and Shopworks keep reporting as before, and SkyPlanner reads progress from DELMIAWorks.

5. Ownership and conflict rules. Write them down before go-live:

DataOwner
Items, BOMs, cycle times, cavities, work order quantities and statusDELMIAWorks
Work order sequence, start and end times, press assignmentSkyPlanner
Setting time matrix, mold and operator requirements, alternative pressesSkyPlanner
Shifts and non-working daysOne system, chosen in scoping
Production, scrap, labor and material issuesDELMIAWorks, reported there or posted from SkyPlanner timelogs

Pick one writer of work order dates. Switch off Auto Load for the work centers SkyPlanner schedules, including any IQAlert action that runs Update Schedule and Auto Load. Use Running Time Lock in SkyPlanner for the near-term freeze instead of a DELMIAWorks time fence on those work centers.

Typical project steps

Implementation is normally completed within weeks after onboarding starts. Before that, validate the schedule in the 30-day free trial with work centers, BOMs and open work orders exported from DELMIAWorks as CSV or Excel.

  1. Mapping. Fix the mapping table, ownership rules, sync frequencies and whether production and labor post back.
  2. DELMIAWorks access. Create the integration user and confirm WebAPI licensing. Test in a test database first.
  3. Initial load. Items, BOMs, part operations, work centers, molds, calendars.
  4. Work order and purchase order sync. Polling with filters and retries.
  5. Constraint setup in SkyPlanner. Setting time matrix, molds as tools, operator counts per job, alternative presses and personnel.
  6. Schedule write-back. Work order updates from SkyPlanner webhooks, plus production and labor posting if chosen.
  7. Parallel testing. Run SkyPlanner beside the current Finite Schedule, compare dates, fix master data.
  8. Go-live. Switch off Auto Load on scheduled work centers and switch on write-back.

What to plan for in a DELMIAWorks integration

  • Family tools. One mold makes several items in one cycle. Model the family run as one job that produces all its items, so the mold is booked once.
  • Cavities. Actual cavities can differ from the standard when a cavity is blocked. Decide whether durations use the standard or the ActualCavity value from RealTime.
  • Mold-to-press fit. Not every press takes every mold. Set the allowed presses per mold as alternatives in SkyPlanner, so work only moves to a press that fits.
  • Color and material changes. Fill the setting time matrix with real purge and mold change times in each direction. For example, blue to red can take 30 minutes and red to blue 60.
  • Auto Load and time fences. Two schedulers writing dates will fight. Disable both for SkyPlanner-scheduled work centers before go-live.

Who configures and supports the DELMIAWorks integration

  1. The SkyPlanner team configures it during onboarding and supports it after go-live, across the agreed WebAPI controllers. Every plant runs DELMIAWorks differently, and this is where that know-how goes.
  2. Your DELMIAWorks partner can take part. The partner knows your release, custom fields and licensing, and can set up the integration user and WebAPI alongside the SkyPlanner team.
  3. Your own developers can build on it against SkyPlanner’s REST API with an API token in the Authorization-Token header. The SkyPlanner team assists when needed. Integration documentation is at SkyPlanner integration docs.

SkyPlanner starts from 199 € per month with 5 workstations included, billed monthly. The integration is quoted up front for your process and needs, together with your plan. See pricing, DELMIAWorks finite capacity scheduling, the DELMIAWorks page and the ERP integrations hub.

FAQ

Which DELMIAWorks API does SkyPlanner use?

The DELMIAWorks WebAPI. SkyPlanner reads through the REST controllers, or the GraphQL SDK for bulk reads, and writes back through the REST controllers: work order updates on the WorkOrders controller, AddProductionRecords and the Time & Attendance task calls.

What does SkyPlanner write back to DELMIAWorks?

Planned start and end dates and the assigned work center for each work order. If you choose, good parts post as production records and setup and run time as task labor.

Does the integration work with IQMS EnterpriseIQ?

DELMIAWorks is the current name of IQMS EnterpriseIQ. The integration uses the WebAPI, so the deciding factor is whether your release has the WebAPI installed and licensed. Your partner confirms this in scoping.

How are molds and family tools handled?

Molds become finite tools in SkyPlanner, so one mold is never in two presses at once. A family tool run is one job that produces all its items. Allowed presses per mold become alternatives.

What happens to Auto Load?

Switch it off for the work centers SkyPlanner schedules, including IQAlert actions that run it. SkyPlanner becomes the single writer of work order dates on those work centers.

Who builds the integration?

The SkyPlanner team configures it during onboarding and supports it after go-live. Your DELMIAWorks partner or your own developers can also build on SkyPlanner’s REST API with an API token.
