SkyPlanner APS for SYSPRO: Finite Capacity Production Scheduling

SkyPlanner APS is a finite capacity scheduling add-on for SYSPRO that schedules every machine, operator, tool and material. You see which job operation runs where and when, and Autopilot reschedules automatically when production changes.

SkyPlanner APS Gantt timeline with jobs scheduled across workstations and an order list below.

SkyPlanner integrates with SYSPRO in both directions: jobs, Structures and Routings, work centers, machines, Stock Codes and purchase orders flow in, and planned dates and logged work flow back. The SkyPlanner team configures the integration to your SYSPRO setup during onboarding.

Pricing is from 199 € per month with 5 workstations included, and each extra workstation is 20 € per month. The free trial runs for 30 days with up to 20 workstations and no credit card.

What changes in your production

A real sequence on every machine.

SkyPlanner places every job operation on a specific machine at a specific time. Real shifts, absences and overtime set the capacity, so the plan is one your shop can actually run.

Changeovers cost less.

SkyPlanner holds the switch time between each pair of products, in both directions. A light-to-dark color run may need a short flush, while dark-to-light needs a full clean. The engine runs jobs in the order that loses the least time.

People and tools are finite too.

A job that needs three operators gets three people with free shifts. A die or mold in use on one machine is never booked on another. When a machine is busy, work moves to an alternative machine or person.

Late material stops breaking the plan.

SkyPlanner checks stock on hand and incoming purchase orders for every Stock Code. A job waiting for a vendor delivery is planned after that delivery date, not started and then stopped on the floor.

Rush jobs and breakdowns replanned automatically.

When a machine stops or a rush job lands, Autopilot reschedules. Your locks and priorities stay in control.

Operators see their queue.

Each operator sees the next jobs on a phone or tablet and logs work as it happens. The office sees progress live, and you choose whether actual times post back to SYSPRO.

How the SYSPRO integration works

  1. SYSPRO sends the work. Jobs with their operations, Structures and Routings, work centers, machines, Stock Codes, stock and purchase orders flow into SkyPlanner.
  2. SkyPlanner builds the schedule and keeps it current. The Arcturus engine plans every operation in seconds and replans as production changes.
  3. Dates and logged work go back. Planned start and finish dates return to the jobs in SYSPRO, and logged setup and run time can post as labor.

SYSPRO stays your system of record. Stock Codes, Requirements Planning, purchasing, inventory, costing and finance stay where they are. SkyPlanner owns one thing: the sequence and timing of every operation on every resource.

SkyPlanner reads SYSPRO data through e.net Solutions Business Objects and the SYSPRO OData service. It writes back through e.net Business Objects, the route SYSPRO itself recommends for querying and posting data. SkyPlanner webhooks push every schedule change as it happens, and the SYSPRO sync frequency is set per plant.

Every plant runs SYSPRO differently, so the SkyPlanner team configures the integration to your setup during onboarding and supports it after go-live. The integration is quoted up front for your process and needs. Your SYSPRO partner or your own developers can also build on SkyPlanner’s documented API (API reference).

Business objects, data mapping and write-back rules are in the SYSPRO integration guide for production scheduling.

What SYSPRO schedules, and what SkyPlanner adds

SYSPRO 8 plans materials well, and it has a finite option: Forward Finite Scheduling in Requirements Planning. SYSPRO’s own help sets its limits:

  • MRP is infinite. The Requirements Calculation “assumes infinite capacity and does not, therefore, schedule jobs according to the actual available capacity in each work center.”
  • Finite means daily buckets. “Capacity available on a day is calculated as follows: A x B x C.” That is calendar capacity times overtime % times utilization %. Jobs fill days on a work center, not time slots on a machine.
  • It plans on a copy. Forward Finite Scheduling “uses the snapshot data created/copied by the Requirements Calculation,” not live shop status.
  • SYSPRO warns against weak data. “The planner should not use forward finite mode unless already working with dynamic elapsed times and a realistic base capacity profile.” (source)

In daily work, Load Levelling flags overloaded work centers and the planner adjusts capacity by hand. Each routing operation carries one setup time, whatever ran before. Operators, tools and incoming material are not checked together in the core run.

Detailed sequencing in SYSPRO comes from separately licensed products: the SYSPRO Factory Scheduling tiers and the SYSPRO MOM suite with Visual APS. The older APS (Nexsys) reached end of sale on 31 December 2025 and reaches end of life on 31 December 2026 (SYSPRO product lifecycle). Plants still running it choose a new scheduler now.

How to choose a scheduler for SYSPRO

SYSPRO’s core planning fits a plant that needs MRP suggestions and a weekly view of overloaded work centers. A plant that plans in spreadsheets and overbooks machines needs a sequence per machine, and the real choice is between SYSPRO MOM with Visual APS and SkyPlanner APS. SYSPRO names MOM as the replacement for APS (Nexsys), which reaches end of life on 31 December 2026.

SYSPRO MOM is a separate suite. Its Visual APS has its own license, applied from file or via the internet. SYSPRO’s help describes it as software on a computer that must reach the SYSPRO SQL Server. When jobs do not fit, “the Planner can then either reschedule the tasks or choose to resolve the errors.” Manufacturing employees need a seat license assigned in Smart Manager to use the MOM Workbench. (SYSPRO help)

Choose SkyPlanner over SYSPRO MOM and Visual APS when:

  • You want a live schedule in weeks, not a MOM project. SkyPlanner is cloud software beside SYSPRO. You test it on your own SYSPRO jobs in the 30-day trial, and implementation is normally completed within weeks after onboarding starts.
  • The plan changes several times a week. Autopilot replans automatically on every meaningful change, without a planner resolving errors, and the new dates go back to SYSPRO.
  • Changeovers decide your output. The setting time matrix holds directional changeover times and runs color, flavor or material sequences with the least total setup.
  • Operators, tools and incoming material all limit the plan. Every machine, person, tool and material is finite, multi-operator jobs are staffed, alternative workstations are used, and jobs start when stock or purchase orders deliver the material.
  • Every operator should work from the plan. Mobile Confirmations put the live queue on a phone or tablet, and users are unlimited: the price depends on workstations, not seats.
  • You want one monthly price. From 199 € per month, with the two-way integration configured and supported by the SkyPlanner team.

FAQ

What is the best scheduling add-on for SYSPRO?

SkyPlanner APS is a finite capacity scheduling add-on that integrates with SYSPRO in both directions: jobs, Structures and Routings, work centers, machines, Stock Codes and purchase orders flow in, and planned dates and logged work flow back. Every machine, operator, tool and material is finite, and a directional setting time matrix sequences jobs for the least setup. Autopilot reschedules automatically when production changes. Pricing is from 199 € per month, and the free trial runs for 30 days.

Does SYSPRO have finite capacity scheduling?

Partly. Core SYSPRO has Forward Finite Scheduling, which loads jobs into daily work center capacity on the MRP snapshot, while MRP itself assumes infinite capacity. Detailed sequencing sits in separately licensed products. SkyPlanner APS schedules every machine, person, tool and material finitely beside SYSPRO.

What scheduling software integrates with SYSPRO?

SkyPlanner APS integrates with SYSPRO in both directions through e.net Business Objects. SkyPlanner reads jobs, routings, Stock Codes and purchase orders through e.net Business Objects or the SYSPRO OData service. Planned dates and labor go back through e.net Business Objects, under a SYSPRO operator you set up for the integration.

Does SkyPlanner replace SYSPRO Requirements Planning or Work in Progress?

No, it works on top of them. SYSPRO keeps Stock Codes, Structures and Routings, Requirements Planning, purchasing, inventory, costing and finance. SkyPlanner schedules your jobs against real capacity and sends the dates back.

Should we use SYSPRO MOM Visual APS or SkyPlanner?

SkyPlanner, when you want a finite schedule running in weeks that keeps itself current. Visual APS is part of the separately licensed SYSPRO MOM suite, installed against your SYSPRO SQL Server, and its planner reschedules jobs that do not fit. SkyPlanner is cloud software that replans automatically on every change, plans changeovers, tools, crews and material, and gives every operator their queue on a phone with unlimited users. You prove it on your own SYSPRO jobs in the free trial.

What replaces SYSPRO APS (Nexsys)?

SYSPRO lists APS (Nexsys) as end of life on 31 December 2026. SkyPlanner APS is the cloud replacement: it schedules your SYSPRO jobs finitely and connects to SYSPRO in both directions. You can prove it on your own jobs in the free trial first.

How much does SkyPlanner cost for a SYSPRO plant?

From 199 € per month with 5 workstations included, plus 20 € per month per extra workstation. A workstation is a production resource with its own scheduled work queue. The integration is quoted up front for your process and needs, together with your plan, so you see the full cost before you start.

How long does implementation take?

Implementation is normally completed within weeks after onboarding starts. The team maps your work centers, machines and routings, connects jobs and purchase orders, and sends planned dates back. Everything is tested against your current plan before go-live.

Can we test SkyPlanner before integrating with SYSPRO?

Yes. The 30-day trial runs on an Excel export of your open SYSPRO jobs. You see a finite capacity schedule of your own production before any integration work starts.
