SkyPlanner APS for ProShop ERP: Finite Capacity Production Scheduling

SkyPlanner APS is a finite capacity scheduling add-on for ProShop that gives machine shops a schedule for every machine, operator, tool and material. You see which work order operation runs on which machine at what clock time, and Autopilot reschedules automatically when production changes.

SkyPlanner APS Gantt timeline with jobs scheduled across workstations and an order list below.

SkyPlanner integrates with ProShop in both directions. Work Orders with their operations, Parts, Work Cells, Users, Tools and Purchase Orders flow in. Planned dates and logged time flow back. The SkyPlanner team configures the integration to your ProShop setup during onboarding.

Pricing is from 199 € per month with 5 workstations included, and each extra workstation is 20 € per month. The free trial runs for 30 days with up to 20 workstations and no credit card.

What changes in your shop

The engine sets the sequence, not the planner.

Arcturus places every work order operation on a specific machine at a specific time and optimizes the whole plan in seconds. Due dates, customer priority and Fast Track decide the order. The planner no longer orders each work cell list by hand.

Setups follow the real sequence.

SkyPlanner holds the changeover time between each pair of jobs, in both directions. Moving from aluminum to stainless may need a short clean, while stainless to aluminum needs a full one. Jobs that share a fixture or material run back to back, and the engine picks the order with the least total setup.

Machines, people and tools are all finite.

A five-axis job that needs a setup machinist and an operator gets both, at a time both have a free shift. A fixture or tool in use on one machine is never booked on another. When a machine is busy, work moves to an alternative machine or person.

Late material no longer breaks the plan.

SkyPlanner checks stock and incoming purchase orders for every part. A job waiting for bar stock is planned after the delivery date, not set up and then torn down.

Rush jobs and breakdowns replanned automatically.

When a spindle goes down or a hot job lands, Autopilot reschedules. Running Time Lock freezes the next hours of work, so the floor is not disrupted.

Operators see their queue.

Each operator sees the next jobs on a phone or tablet and logs work as it happens. The office sees progress live, and you choose whether actual time posts back to ProShop.

How the ProShop integration works

  1. ProShop sends the work. Work Orders with their operations and target times, Parts, Work Order BOM records, Work Cells, Users, Tools, Fixtures and Purchase Orders flow into SkyPlanner.
  2. SkyPlanner builds the schedule and keeps it current. The Arcturus engine plans every operation in seconds and replans as production changes.
  3. Dates and logged time go back. Planned start and finish dates return to the work orders in ProShop, and operator time can post to ProShop Time Tracking.

ProShop stays your system of record. Quoting, work orders, visual work instructions, quality, inventory, purchasing and job costing stay where they are. SkyPlanner owns one thing: the sequence and timing of every operation on every resource.

SkyPlanner reads ProShop through the ProShop GraphQL API at /api/graphql, authenticated with an OAuth 2.0 Authorization that your ProShop administrator creates under System Config > Manage Authorizations. Changes are picked up through the Recently Updated Records API, filtered to work orders, work cells, purchase orders and time tracking. Planned dates go back through GraphQL with write scope on workorders. SkyPlanner webhooks push every schedule change as it happens, and the ProShop sync frequency is set per shop.

Every shop runs ProShop differently, so the SkyPlanner team configures the integration to your setup during onboarding and supports it after go-live. The integration is quoted up front for your process and needs. Your ProShop consultant or your own developers can also build on SkyPlanner’s documented API (API reference).

Queries, scopes, data mapping and write-back rules are in the ProShop integration guide for production scheduling.

What ProShop schedules, and what SkyPlanner adds

ProShop has its own scheduling, built around Work Cells, and it is finite at the work cell level. ProShop’s documents describe how it works:

  • Work cells hold the hours. “Any machine tool, workbench, equipment, or even person can be assigned as a workcell. Once assigned as a workcell, the number and timing of available hours per day can be managed using the schedule.” (module flyer)
  • Durations come from estimates. “Estimated set-up and cycle times are used to calculate job duration on the schedule.” (ProShop blog)
  • The shop sets the priority. “The machine schedule can provide a view into your existing pipeline, order of priority for active jobs, job status, and capacity planning features.” (ProShop blog)
  • People act on the flags. ProShop’s scheduling “automatically updates to reflect actual progress. Adjust priorities and manage bottlenecks proactively, not reactively.” (ProShop MES)

That is a strong base for visibility. The planner still decides the order on each machine, one estimated setup time covers a job whatever ran before it, and each work cell is a machine or a person rather than both together. SkyPlanner adds the engine on top: automatic sequencing across machines, operators, tools and material, sequence-dependent setups and continuous replanning.

Choose SkyPlanner over ProShop’s scheduling when:

  • The planner spends hours ordering work cell lists. ProShop shows “order of priority for active jobs” that the shop sets. Arcturus builds the whole sequence in seconds and rebuilds it on every change.
  • Setup time depends on what ran before. ProShop calculates duration from “estimated set-up and cycle times”. The setting time matrix holds the changeover for each pair of jobs in both directions and sequences for the least total setup.
  • Machines and machinists limit you together. In ProShop a work cell is a machine or a person. SkyPlanner books the machine, the operators and the fixture for the same operation, and staffs jobs that need several people.
  • Hot jobs and breakdowns land every day. ProShop tells planners to “adjust priorities and manage bottlenecks”. Autopilot replans automatically, and Running Time Lock keeps the next hours stable.
  • Material decides what can start. Jobs are planned when stock or incoming purchase orders deliver the material.
  • You want one monthly price. From 199 € per month, with unlimited users and the two-way integration configured and supported by the SkyPlanner team.

FAQ

What is the best scheduling add-on for ProShop?

SkyPlanner APS is a finite capacity scheduling add-on that integrates with ProShop in both directions: Work Orders with their operations, Parts, Work Cells, Users, Tools and Purchase Orders flow in, and planned dates and logged time flow back. Every machine, operator, tool and material is finite, and a directional setting time matrix sequences jobs for the least total setup. Autopilot reschedules automatically when production changes. Pricing is from 199 € per month, and the free trial runs for 30 days.

Does ProShop have finite capacity scheduling?

Yes, at the work cell level. Each work cell, a machine, bench, equipment or person, has available hours per day and shift schedules, and job duration comes from estimated setup and cycle times. The shop sets the order of priority per machine. SkyPlanner APS adds automatic sequencing across machines, operators, tools and material, with sequence-dependent setups.

Should we use ProShop scheduling or SkyPlanner?

SkyPlanner, when the sequence decides your delivery dates. ProShop’s schedule shows priority, status and on-time forecasts, and planners adjust priorities by hand. SkyPlanner optimizes the whole plan in seconds, plans changeovers with a directional setting time matrix, books operators, tools and fixtures together with machines, and replans automatically with Autopilot. ProShop stays your system of record for work orders, quality and costing.

What scheduling software integrates with ProShop?

SkyPlanner APS integrates with ProShop in both directions through the ProShop GraphQL API. SkyPlanner reads work orders, operations, parts, work cells and purchase orders with an OAuth 2.0 Authorization scoped to those modules. It picks up changes through the Recently Updated Records API and writes planned dates and time back through GraphQL.

Does SkyPlanner replace ProShop?

No, it works on top of it. ProShop keeps quoting, work orders, work instructions, quality, inventory, purchasing and job costing. SkyPlanner schedules your work orders against real capacity and sends the dates back.

How much does SkyPlanner cost for a ProShop shop?

From 199 € per month with 5 workstations included, plus 20 € per month per extra workstation. A workstation is a production resource with its own scheduled work queue, such as a CNC machine. Users are unlimited. The integration is quoted up front for your process and needs, together with your plan, so you see the full cost before you start.

How long does implementation take?

Implementation is normally completed within weeks after onboarding starts. The team maps your work cells, operations and target times, connects work orders and purchase orders, and sends planned dates back. Everything is tested against your current schedule before go-live.

Does it work with ProShop cloud and self-hosted?

Yes. Both run ProShop in the browser with the same GraphQL API at your ProShop address. A self-hosted server needs to accept HTTPS calls from SkyPlanner, which your IT team sets up during scoping.

Can we test SkyPlanner before integrating with ProShop?

Yes. The 30-day trial runs on an Excel export of your open ProShop work orders. You see a finite capacity schedule of your own shop before any integration work starts.
