SkyPlanner APS for PSIpenta: Finite Capacity Production Scheduling
SkyPlanner APS is a finite capacity scheduling add-on for PSIpenta that schedules every machine, operator, tool and material. You see which operation of which production order runs where and when, and Autopilot reschedules automatically when production changes.
SkyPlanner integrates with PSIpenta in both directions. Production orders (Fertigungsaufträge) with their operations, routings (Arbeitspläne), BOMs (Stücklisten), work centers, machines, tools (Betriebsmittel), stock and purchase orders flow in. Planned start, end and work center per operation flow back, and operator time can post back as BDE confirmations (Rückmeldungen). The SkyPlanner team configures the integration to your PSIpenta setup during onboarding.
Pricing is from 199 € per month with 5 workstations included, and each extra workstation is 20 € per month. The free trial runs for 30 days with up to 20 workstations, all Basic features and no credit card.
What changes in your production
A clock-time sequence on every machine.
SkyPlanner places every operation of every production order on a specific machine at a specific time. Real shifts, absences and overtime set the capacity, so the plan is one your shop can run.
Changeovers cost less.
SkyPlanner holds the switch time between each pair of products, in both directions. Blue to red may take 30 minutes and red to blue 60. The Arcturus engine runs jobs in the order that loses the least time.
People and tools are finite too.
A job that needs three operators gets three people with free shifts. A fixture or tool from your PSIpenta Betriebsmittel list is never booked on two machines at once. When a machine is busy, work moves to an alternative machine or person.
Late material stops breaking the plan.
SkyPlanner checks stock on hand and incoming purchase orders. An operation waiting for a supplier delivery is planned after that delivery date, not started and then stopped on the floor.
Rush orders and breakdowns replanned automatically.
When a machine stops or a rush order lands, Autopilot reschedules. Your locks and priorities stay in control, and Running Time Lock freezes the next hours of work.
Operators see their queue.
Each operator sees the next jobs on a phone or tablet and logs work as it happens. The office sees progress live, and you choose whether the logged time posts back to PSIpenta.

How the PSIpenta integration works
- PSIpenta sends the work. Production orders with their operations, routings, BOMs, work centers, machines, tools, stock and purchase orders flow into SkyPlanner.
- SkyPlanner builds the schedule and keeps it current. The Arcturus engine plans every operation in seconds and replans as production changes.
- Dates and logged work go back. Planned start, end and work center return to each operation of the production order in PSIpenta. Operator timelogs can post as BDE confirmations.
PSIpenta stays your system of record. Parts, BOMs, routings, material requirements planning, purchasing, costing and finance stay where they are. SkyPlanner owns one thing: the sequence and timing of every operation on every resource.
PSI builds PSIpenta for this kind of connection. Its interface layer, PSIintegration, links PSIpenta modules and outside systems through mapped messages, and PSI states that all PSIpenta components can be integrated through RESTful web services. PSI also names a REST and SOAP API for PSIpenta/ERP and PSIpenta/BDE (PSI brochure). SkyPlanner reads production data and writes planned operation dates through the PSIpenta/ERP REST API. Confirmations go through the PSIpenta/BDE API. The exact resources and fields for your installation are set during onboarding scoping. SkyPlanner webhooks push every schedule change as it happens.
Every plant runs PSIpenta differently, so the SkyPlanner team configures the integration to your setup during onboarding and supports it after go-live. The integration is quoted up front for your process and needs. Your PSI partner or your own developers can also build on SkyPlanner’s documented API (API reference).
Interfaces, data mapping and write-back rules are in the PSIpenta integration guide for production scheduling.
What PSIpenta schedules, and what SkyPlanner adds
PSIpenta/ERP is a modular ERP for discrete manufacturers. PSI says you buy only the functions you need (PSI), and planning comes in several layers:
- Production module. Rough-cut planning of bottleneck material and capacity, and multi-level detailed planning of BOMs and routings (PSI Produktion).
- Leitstand module. PSIpenta/Advanced Scheduling & Monitoring is a planning board with a frozen zone, planning against limited capacity and simulation. It plans resources against limited or unlimited capacity (PSI Leitstand).
- Adaptive Planung. An APS module that reacts to disruptions. Delays it cannot resolve are marked as critical paths for the planner to work on (PSI Adaptive Planung).
- PSIpenta/MES Scheduling. Sequence planning per workplace against finite capacity, part of the PSIpenta/MES product line and connected to it through standardized messages (PSI MES Scheduling).
So finite scheduling in the PSIpenta world means choosing, licensing and implementing a module, and a planner who runs it. SkyPlanner adds one cloud schedule that covers machines, people, tools, sequence-dependent setups and incoming material together, keeps itself current with Autopilot and puts the queue in every operator’s hands.

How to choose a scheduler for PSIpenta
The Production module fits a plant that needs rough-cut planning of bottlenecks and dates for purchasing. A plant that plans the shop in spreadsheets needs a sequence per machine. Then the real choice is between a PSI planning module (Leitstand, Adaptive Planung or MES Scheduling) and SkyPlanner APS.
Choose SkyPlanner over the PSIpenta Leitstand and MES Scheduling when:
- You want a live schedule in weeks, not a module project. PSIpenta is licensed per module (PSI), and MES Scheduling belongs to the PSIpenta/MES line (PSI). SkyPlanner is cloud software beside PSIpenta/ERP. You test it on your own production orders in the 30-day trial, and implementation is normally completed within weeks after onboarding starts.
- The plan must keep itself current. In Adaptive Planung, delays it cannot resolve are marked as critical paths for the planner (PSI). Autopilot reschedules automatically when production changes, and the new dates go back to PSIpenta.
- Changeovers decide your output. The setting time matrix holds directional changeover times and runs color, material or tool sequences with the least total setup.
- Operators, tools and incoming material all limit the plan. Every machine, person, tool and material is finite in one schedule. Multi-operator jobs are staffed, alternative machines are used, and operations start when stock or purchase orders deliver the material.
- Every operator should work from the plan. Mobile Confirmations put the live queue on a phone or tablet, and users are unlimited: the price depends on workstations, not seats.
- You want a public monthly price. From 199 € per month, with the two-way integration quoted up front, configured and supported by the SkyPlanner team.

FAQ
What is the best scheduling add-on for PSIpenta?
SkyPlanner APS is a finite capacity scheduling add-on that integrates with PSIpenta in both directions. Production orders, operations, routings, BOMs, work centers, machines, tools, stock and purchase orders flow in. Planned start, end and work center per operation flow back, and operator time can post as BDE confirmations. Every machine, operator, tool and material is finite, and Autopilot reschedules automatically when production changes. Pricing is from 199 € per month, and the free trial runs for 30 days.
Does PSIpenta have finite capacity scheduling?
Yes, in separate modules. The Production module plans bottleneck material and capacity. The Leitstand module plans against limited or unlimited capacity with a frozen zone, and PSIpenta/MES Scheduling plans each workplace against finite capacity. SkyPlanner APS schedules every machine, person, tool and material finitely in one cloud schedule beside PSIpenta/ERP.
What scheduling software integrates with PSIpenta?
SkyPlanner APS integrates with PSIpenta in both directions. It reads production orders, operations, routings, BOMs, work centers, tools, stock and purchase orders through the PSIpenta/ERP REST API and PSIintegration. Planned operation dates go back through the PSIpenta/ERP REST API, and operator time posts as confirmations through the PSIpenta/BDE API.
Does SkyPlanner replace PSIpenta material requirements planning?
No, it works on top of it. PSIpenta keeps parts, BOMs, routings, material requirements planning, purchasing, costing and finance. SkyPlanner schedules your production orders against real capacity and sends the dates back.
Should we use the PSIpenta Leitstand or SkyPlanner?
SkyPlanner, when you want a finite schedule running in weeks that keeps itself current. The Leitstand, Adaptive Planung and MES Scheduling are separate PSI modules to license and implement, and delays the APS module cannot resolve go to the planner as critical paths. SkyPlanner reschedules automatically when production changes, plans changeovers, tools, crews and material in one schedule, and gives every operator their queue on a phone with unlimited users. You prove it on your own production orders in the free trial.
How much does SkyPlanner cost for a PSIpenta plant?
From 199 € per month with 5 workstations included, plus 20 € per month per extra workstation. A workstation is a production resource with its own scheduled work queue. The integration is quoted up front for your process and needs, together with your plan, so you see the full cost before you start.
How long does implementation take?
Implementation is normally completed within weeks after onboarding starts. The team maps your work centers, machines, tools and routings, connects production orders and purchase orders, and sends planned dates back. Everything is tested against your current plan before go-live.
Can we test SkyPlanner before integrating with PSIpenta?
Yes. The 30-day trial runs on an Excel export of your open PSIpenta production orders. You see a finite capacity schedule of your own production before any integration work starts.
