The Process Step Completion Degree (or Minimum Degree of Manufacture) is an intelligent feature that allows the next production step to begin when the preceding step has reached a certain degree of completion.
For example, the packaging process can begin when the previous step, like assembly, is 10% complete. This boosts the entire production process, reduces downtime, and enables optimal resource use.
In this example, we are going to manufacture bolts. This would be a standard timeline if a process step needs to be completed to start a new step.
Now, let’s use the Minimun degree of Manufacture.
- Go to Orders and select Orders Items.
- A new panel will appear. Look for the Order Item for which you want to use this feature and click on it. In this example, we will use Bolt size 1 (p-3).
- SkyPlanner will take you to the panel for that Order Item. On the right side, you will see the Process Steps this Order item needs to follow to be completed. In this example, we will use the third process step of this Product, “Size and Surface.”
- Look for the Gear Icon of a process step and click on it.
- A new window will appear. Here, you will find relevant information about the process of this Product. In this case, we can create 500 bolts per hour.
- Under this, you will see Setting time and Teardown options. Here, the Teardown time must be 0 (zero). This is because you will give a percentage of how much this process step’s job needs to be completed to start moving to the next process step, “Packing.” Slide the minimum degree bar until the desired percentage is selected; in this case, we will choose 50%. Now, we are telling the AI that we can start the packing process after 50% of this process step has been completed. Then click Save.
- Then, go back to your GANTT Timeline and click King Button.
- Now, you can see that packing will start when 50% of the job of the previous process step, “manufacturing,” has been done.
